WARNING: Scams Targeting AEG Exhibitors, AEG Members, and Attendees

The Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists, as with many large trade shows and conferences, has been the target of companies that are contacting attendees and exhibitors offering attendee lists, discounted housing, and other services associated with attending or exhibiting at the Annual Meeting. The Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists does not ever sell or provide membership, attendee or exhibitor information.

The official vendors are:

• Meeting Venue/Hotel Reservations: Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront

• Exhibitor Services: Fern Expositions

Fake Websites/Scams

AEG is aware of other websites with misleading information on our 2023 Annual Meeting. These are not legitimate websites, and should be avoided. Always be sure you are on the official website before giving out information. Please know we have not had a data breach. These companies keep contacting a wide range of people until they eventually get to someone who responds.  Please do not engage with, purchase or click on any links that look suspicious. If you receive a solicitation from a third party or from any person or business that claims to be an authorized vendor or makes it seem as though they are affiliated with AEG, we ask that you forward the information on to manager@aegweb.org.

Hotel/Housing Scam

The official AEG reservations is through Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront.  To receive the group rate, reservations must be made through the link on the AEG Annual Meeting Website, aegannualmeeting.org.  Exhibitors and attendees are sometimes contacted  with offers for discounted housing rates. Their intent is to convince you that the offer is made on our behalf or that the soliciting company is a viable alternative to booking through AEG’s room block. They are not authorized to represent AEG, nor do they have access to officially contract hotel room blocks or rates on behalf of AEG. If you've been contacted about our meeting by a company or individual whom you feel is not legitimate, please let us know at manager@aegweb.org. Please remember to keep your information safe. Never send credit card information by email and only provide personal or financial information to a trusted, secure source.
